Interview with artist - Silke Wolff

Q)How did your journey as an artist begin?
In childhood I started with gestural, abstract drawings and paintings in 4 different media. Throughout my life I continued to draw and paint. For financial reason I studied product design and learned free object drawing after high school. In 2019 the honorable Wilhelm Hack Museum invited me to participate in a big exhibition. This has been the start of my fine art career. I prepared for and introduced to 3 directors from a museum, an institution and an online gallery. Until today I present pictures in this very first gallery. https://outsidein.org.uk/galleries/silke-wolff/

Q)What are the different forms of artworks that you do?
My space is very limited. Mostly I draw in books. In combination with digital photos I then create series of digital graphics. These series I arrange in cycles. To every metaphysical series I write two texts about their meaning and development. Working digital takes few space. Doing so I am able to create many pictures. In the past I did several sculptures and canvas paintings. Many drawings and paintings on paper are already archived and physically assorted by decades. My digital archive is assorted in years and holds about 5.000 photos of drawings. One big heavy suitcase is still closed. I hope for more drawings in there. For pleasure and accompanied by a guitar I play saxophone.

Q)Can you tell more about metaphysical art?
The physical is what mankind can detect and measure with instruments. Since the age of enlightenment very many people are convinced that it takes mechanical prove to make some impression or idea relevant. Other is metaphysical. One can find the metaphysical in ancient myths. In addition there is the fantastic. To me the metaphysical universe opened up while daily practicing Taoist meditations. Few living people have access to this realm. With my surreal post pop art graphics and corresponding texts I open this world to to the open minded recipient.
Q)What is idea behind it and what does it signifies from a layman perspective?
I tell about nothing less then the realm of eternal life. To my understanding every living enters this world during lifetime. Every conscious contact of two living creates a copy of them. This can be a biologic meeting of two people. It can also be distant contact like letters or digital notes. The phenomenon goes back to first microbes at the begin of life on earth. I have experienced dinosaurs. Souls, angels and extraterrestrials are part of my metaphysical universe. Their number tends strongly to endlessly many. Most of the energetic people stay within their last life situation for eternity. It is my personal conviction to prefer knowing about the circumstances of my situation. To tell about the metaphysical is the idealistic reason of my fine art. Those who know are more likely to become aware of their solely energetic existence.

Q) What is that one line of quote that you abide by in your life or you would like others to follow?
People are individual. Some develop personal interests. Few may live their dream.

Q)Please tell us a bit about an artwork of yours which you like the most?

Always my own next to come artwork is my preferred one. I learn from the past; act in the presence and plan for the future. It often takes many years until I create a new paranormal series. During creation this one then seems to me my best piece so far. About 4.000 of my artworks I put in a file for my laptop wallpaper. In a random sequence they are shown for some seconds. Often when I see a past work I congratulate the past Silke for creating so well. I value craftsmanship, diligence, coloring, composing, taking drawing and painting utensils along when traveling and more. My past works guide me to my future ones.

Q) How have you been keeping up during the pandemic and what are the new things that you have started?
During the pandemic I composed a musical. Eight years of classical piano lessons enabled me to do so. The musical is called “wide mind”. The 15 songs and stage performance tell about the metaphysical as well. The focus is on the aura of people and trees and their interaction. A few years I tried to have it performed. Facing organizational and financial challenges with my musical I decided to concentrate my capacities on pictures and short texts.
Q)What are the challenges you face while working on any artwork?
Taking the undisturbed time for it. When I create I easily get into a flow. I then solely concentrate on my assignment until one working step is done. All other I ignore. It happened that I continuously worked for 30 hours. Marketing like this precious interview, household, social have to stand back.
Q)What is the thought process while choosing your next artwork?
I think about my recipients. Where can I catch them up? Which aspect of the supranatural will they benefit from? What subject can they relate to? My cycles of fine art series’ are assorted. I introduce some players of the paranormal in “Meta . . .”; the interaction of the physical and the metaphysical in “Supra . . .”; their fantastic capabilities in “Para . . .” and their actions in “PSI . . .”. Interviews like this lead people to comprehend my work. Thanks to daily arts!

Q)What are the best resources that have helped you in your way?
Perseverance. By nature my strength is in the beginning of a process. I learned to continue a work during the middle part with discipline. At the end the outlook of the content feeling to having it done motivates me to finish.

Q)What advice would you give to a young artist following in your steps?
Ensure a solid financial income. Earning money with fine art resembles playing in a lottery.

Q)Who is your Inspiration ?
My alter egos the “Energetis” Sil are my inspiration. Those energetic personalities exist in the surreal realm which I perceive and tell me about it. In words, pictures and other we communicate about my life and their existence. These reports form the ideas for my pictures.

Q)Would you like to tell about your achievements ?
To my experience the fine art market these achievements come from is financed by the artists. I am in the very lucky position to having a very small monthly budget which I may spend for fine art. Every sale is reinvested. A selection of single pictures for an affordable price is offered at https://www.arteomgallery.com/silke-wolff

For the second time I have been nominated for the “Top 60 Masters” award also known as the Oscar of fine arts. I received the “International Phoenix Prize”, the “International Prize Velazquez & Goya” and “The best contemporary masters 2024” award. The walls of my corridor are filled with framed certificates. The iconic Anthony Fawcett wrote a mesmerizing one paged review about me and my work. Leading galleries cooperate with me. My works are published in fine art magazines and books. My original-graphics are presented in exhibitions and at fairs in Europe, the UK and the USA.

Q)Can you tell us about the process of making your artwork in short ?
Drawings and photos are the base of my digital collages. Within one series the well constructed composition remains equal. The single elements then vary in form and color. Looking at the complete series the systems of variation show. At https://outsidein.org.uk/galleries/silke-wolff/ I present complete series in a landscape hanging order.

Q)Whats coming up for you ,what are you working on?
I prepare my offers for  The 6 parted ensembles there are a creative challenge. From each of my almost 30 series with 30 to 100 single pictures I compose 15 ensembles. The combination of colors within the given palette of one series is my current assignment.
