Interview With Artist - Talia

Q)How did your journey as an artist begin?
-My journey as an artist began when I was quite young. I cut out the back of a Frosted Flakes box and drew mickey mouse and friends that is on my page with pencil crayon. I was oh very proud of it and it was my father's favourite I ever did at that point!

Q)What are the different forms of artworks that you do?
Most often recently I have been painting however I started being an artist through drawings and selling those! I do enjoy graphite and charcoal, and I have loved acrylic for painting! Lately I've been using oil and I love it, all on canvas.

Q)What does your work aim to say?
My work is a representation of what I love to do and mixing it with something touching. My work should have people look at it and think wow, this reminds me of that time when, or this makes me feel... tugging at heartstrings as Dolly Parton would say!

Q)What is that one line of quote that you abide by in your life or you would like others to follow?
-I try to go by the golden rule and just love my neighbor as the bible says to do!

Q)Please tell us a bit about an artwork of yours which you like the most?
That is a hard one... I've made many pieces that I love but one of my newer loves is my painting of a sunset at the ocean with a sailboat in it. It represents my love of vibrant colors and love of the ocean for sure! This one was given to my nana as my late papa got us all loving the ocean!

Q)How have you been keeping up during the pandemic and what are the new things that you have started?
Since the pandemic I actually started painting! Not as often as I'd like due to life and work, but I rarely painting with acrylic before and never oil. I will never turn back as I love it!

Q) What are the challenges you face while working on any artwork?
Challenges... every artist has challenges and putting that turned around frustration into your artwork can result in a beautiful masterpiece you can't duplicate. My only challenge really is finishing a project but I am getting better!

Q) What is the thought process while choosing your next artwork?
Honestly I get randomly inspired. A few months ago I was inspired by my cousin who is the girl with the Dragon Earring painting I have. Otherwise it comes randomly! If anything I see something I find beautiful or touching and I want to recreate it with my own twist!

Q) Would you like to tell about your achievements ?
Achievements in my mind are constantly building. I will always have goals to reach, but for the moment I am working on my first commission since Covid. Very excited about that and trying my best to make it perfect

Q)Can you tell us about the process of making your artwork in short ?
The process for me is
Randomly become inspired
Sketch it out if I can
Paint for hours and hours
Adjust what I don't like
Varnish and finish.

Q)Whats coming up for you ,what are you working on?
Like I said, I'm currently working on my first covid commission I'll call spooky rose possibly. Based on beauty and the beast, and then I have a very large disney painting I have to continue on. I always have a list of ideas to do so I will fill time with those! All oil or acrylic on canvas !

Thank You
